Mara is a modern composition by the Argentine group Ilahun. Its variety of sections and rhythmic shifts evoke the structure of a mejance, while its distinctive melodic content is enriched by the group’s contemporary identity and characteristic energy.

In this course, we will listen to and analyze the piece to recognize its structure, understand the transitions between its different sections, and identify the rhythmic and melodic nuances that can inspire movement. This process will help us connect with the music more consciously and discover how its intention evolves throughout the musical journey.

We will then bring these elements into the body through a dynamic and expressive choreographic approach. We will work with musicality, contrasts in energy, transitions, and the interpretation of each section, allowing movement to dialogue with the richness of the composition.

The result will be a contemporary choreography that retains the theatrical, ever-changing character of the mejance while reflecting the strength, sensitivity, and modern identity of Mara.

He has developed an extensive international career as a performer, choreographer, master teacher and judge at major dance festivals worldwide, working in more than 30 countries across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
